Psalms 24:1 - 2 (HCSB) 1    The earth and everything in it,
    the world and its inhabitants,
    belong to the LORD;
2    for He laid its foundation on the seas
    and established it on the rivers.

As a child, I had this box of wood blocks.  These were small, ¾ x ¾ x 2 inches.  I had hundreds of them.  I remember working for hours building towers in my bedroom. I would build freestanding arches, cantilevered ledges, and twisting levels.  I intentionally designed structures that seemed to defy gravity.  I learned a lot about load-balancing and structural integrity as none of the blocks attached to the others in any way. They were all loose blocks simply stacked on top of each other.

I remember many times building them so tall that I had to have a chair to stand on to complete the top.  The biggest shame of it all was that I never got a single photograph of any of these towers. But my family will attest to them.  After I had built them, I would then begin to pick single blocks out from the foundation.  Surprisingly if the tower had been built well, I could pull out many blocks before the entire structure became unstable and crashed into a random heap.

There are people in this world who are certain that miracles are nothing more than fable, because a miracle violates the laws of physics and science. How, they wonder, could a sea actually part to allow people to cross?  Or how could fire come from Heaven to consume an altar?

I am convinced that these people who hold this view never spent hours as a child; building things out of blocks, Legos, Connex, Tinker Toys, or any other construction set.  If they had, they would understand that the builder is above and beyond the building.  The architect can design the structure to suit his or her whim and should he or she decide to alter the structure, the structure itself is in no position to question the architect.

Likewise, our God is far above our universe because He is the architect and builder of it. As the verses point out, He laid the foundations for this universe, and therefore, he can alter the laws of physics as He sees fit and whenever He sees fit.

Are you limiting your view of God by what you understand?  No matter what view you have of God, I guarantee you, He is bigger still.

Take time to contemplate the greatness of our God, and acknowledge His greatness as the architect and builder of our universe.
