Psalms 7:9 - 11 (HCSB) 9 Let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
but establish the righteous.
The One who examines the thoughts and emotions
is a righteous God.
10 My shield is with God,
who saves the upright in heart.
11 God is a righteous judge,
and a God who executes justice every day.

In 1994, Nancy Kerrigan was in a Disney parade when she was overheard maligning the parade. Disney was a major sponsor of Kerrigan in the 1994 Winter Olympics. She had been in the parade, smiling and waving at adoring fans and Disney devotees, but yet, her heart wasn’t in it.
In the verses above, we are reminded that our God sees the thoughts and emotions and rules with justice.
When God examines your heart, what will he find? Will He find a heart devoted to Him and righteousness?
God desires for us to be authentic in our relationships. First off, we are to have the heart of God, having compassion on all people, and then to live out that compassion daily. If we try to fake our compassion, we will be found out and humiliated. Nancy Kerrigan looked as if she was happy and pleased to be in the Disney parade, but in a moment of absent-mindedness, the truth came out.
Search your heart and remove anything that does not reflect the character that God desires for you.
