Mark 16:14 - 16 (HCSB)

14Later, He appeared to the Eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been resurrected.  15Then He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.  16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Occasionally when I am discussing my faith with others, one question I get a lot is something like this:  “Why can’t Christians be more tolerant of other beliefs?”  In other words, “why must you insist on telling me about your religion?”

I usually answer with something like “If I believe what I believe as you say I should, then I am compelled to share with you.  Would you respect my faith if I did not believe it fully?”

And in my studies, I am often amazed to hear major theological leaders compromise the Christian faith.  They seem to back off of some of the basic tenets of what makes Christianity holy and set apart.  They want to make Christianity more “tolerant”.

We are not called to be tolerant; we are called to minister to the lost.  We are not called to speak soothing words; we are called to declare the good news which will convict people of their sin.  We are not called to allow others to die in their ignorance; we are called to proclaim God’s grace to the world.

This passage above is commonly called the “Great Commission” in which Jesus commands not only the apostles but us as well to share the gospel everywhere.  If you believe the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus, then you have no option but to share this message to everyone you encounter.
