Isaiah 33:5-6 (NIV)
The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high;
   He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.
He will be the sure foundation for your times,
   a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
   the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.

The Tower of Pizza leans 5.5 degrees.  The top of the tower is nearly 15 feet from where it should be.  The builders build the tower, although magnificent and sturdy, on a soft, clay foundation.  Over time, the tower has settled unevenly, and today is supported by a network of cables that prevent it from toppling over.  Had the tower foundation been placed on bedrock, it would still be standing perfectly erect today.

Any homeowner knows that you need to protect your foundation.  If the foundation of your house fails, it will result in major problems elsewhere; walls will crack, plumbing will break, floors will crack and lean.  And if left unattended for very long, irreparable damage will result.

A “sure” foundation is one that will never lean, shift or change in any way.  The reference to Zion is a reference to the kingdom that Jesus established with his resurrection.  When we stand on that sure foundation of the Kingdom of God, we become heirs to that salvation, and with it comes true wisdom and knowledge.

This is indeed a great treasure that is given to us when we fear (revere) the Lord.
