Proverbs 30:5 – 6 (NIV)
“Every word of God
is flawless;
He is a shield to those to take
refuge in Him.
Do not add to his words,
Or he will rebuke you and prove you a
liar.”
Have you noticed how many people today claim to have some new revelation from God? They claim that what we understand as the Gospel is all mixed up and they have some new interpretation.
When Jesus walked the Earth, his message was this; that the Gospel is much simpler than everyone thought it was. When asked which was the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, “You should love God with everything you are, and then love your neighbor.” (Mathew 22:37-40 paraphrased) How simple is that?
But there are those who say you must do this or that to be saved. Or that this book or teacher has a new version of what God desires. They will say that you cannot trust the Bible alone as the source of Gods revelation of Himself. You can rest assured that God knows their hearts and someday, they will be proven to be liars.
The Gospel is so simple: For God loved the world so much that he sent his one and only son, Jesus, so that whoever simply believes in Him, they will be saved.
Next time someone claims to have some new word from God, just compare what they say against the Bible. Sure, we need pastors and teachers to help us understand God’s word, but what they say must be consistent with the Bible. The Bible alone is inspired by God; complete and sufficient for our needs.
