Psalm 139: 13 – 15 and Psalm 138:8 (NIV)
For You created my
inmost being;
You knit me together in my mothers’
womb.
I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from You
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the
depths of the earth.
The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;
Your love, O Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of Your
hands.
Albert Einstein once said “God does not play dice.” Although his statement was in reference to the seeming randomness of quantum physics, I think we can apply the same idea to creation. Many want to say that evolution is the cause for our existence. Even Pope Benedict XVI issued a statement recently saying “There is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”
To accept evolution as the basis for our existence is to devalue our lives in the eyes of God. If we do not believe that we were “fearfully and wonderfully made” and that God has a purpose for us, then we blaspheme God – we deny his awesome design in the universe.
If evolution is true, then we as humans are just another phase of existence and are no more special to God than cockroaches and grass. If evolution is true, then who is to say that another, more-evolved form of life will succeed us? If evolution is true, then the book of Genesis is a lie. If the book of Genesis is a lie then the rest of the Old Testament is meaningless. If the Old Testament is meaningless then the New Testament is a hoax. And if the New Testament is a hoax, then, we are to be pitied above all people.
I am not denying the existence of fossils. Science does not disagree with the Bible – SCIENTISTS disagree with the Bible when they create theories that exclude God as the creator of all things and when those theories devalue human life in the eyes of God.
Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. He has fearfully and wonderfully made you with a specific purpose in mind.
