Philippians 1:6 (HCSB)

6I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Have you ever known anyone who would start projects enthusiastically, but lost interest and never finish the project?  I must confess that I have done this.  I get into the project and find out that maybe it’s too complex of a task.  Or perhaps I get distracted with other things that I find more interesting. Sometimes, I just have too many things going on and can’t do them all.  And then there are times when I start something but half-way through, I begin to realize, this isn’t going to turn out as I hoped and I give up.

Paul addressed this issued very clearly when he wrote the words above to the church at Phillipi.  God’s ways are far above ours and what He sets out to do, He will surely complete.

First off, there is nothing too complex for God.  No matter how mangled and tangled your life may seem, God can work through all of that to accomplish the good He has in mind for you.

Next, God does not get distracted from His tasks.  We must remember that God created us as individuals and cares for us individually and will not turn his attention from us just because something more interesting has come along.  God has the ability to be everywhere so He will never get distracted from the work He is doing in you.

And God is never too busy.  Aside from His ability to be everywhere at the same time, He has the angels as His messengers to assist us.  God is directing the movement of every atom and every star in the universe, and still he has time on his hands.  He is never too busy for you.

Finally, no matter how badly you mess things up, God can always finish the work He begun in you thoroughly and completely as He desires.  Nothing you can do will ever make your life such a mess that God cannot repair it.

Isn’t it comforting to know that God has promised to finish what He started in you?  And it is called a “good” work, so you know that you can’t mess it up beyond repair.
